Our Story…
The Lenox School Alumni Association has been unique from its inception. It was founded over a decade after the Lenox School closed in 1972.
Unlike most alumni groups, which support a living, evolving institution, LSAA founders believed that the motto of the School – not to be served but to serve – and the nature of the community which the School had established – the ideals rather than the physical place itself – were timeless and should be preserved.
In the early days of the LSAA, some hoped that the School itself could eventually be re-established. When that proved impractical, LSAA members focused on celebrating and supporting the Lenox legacy in other institutions in the Berkshires: Trinity Church, where we had all worshipped; Shakespeare & Company, the owner of the School campus; and Miss Hall’s School, where many Lenox masters had gone to teach.
For the centennial of the founding of the School in 2026, the LSAA established the Lenox Centennial Legacy Fund which will perpetuate the ideals of community and service through scholarships and other donations to institutions throughout the country.
